ArcGIS 10.1 Support

We are happy to announce that Lucity version 7.40 SP0 and Lucity version 7.30 SP2 will be released with support for ArcGIS 10.1.  The Lucity 7.40 release is scheduled for August and the Lucity 7.30 SP2 release will happen sometime after the 7.40 release.

Upgrading to ArcGIS Desktop 10.1

Upgrading the Lucity 7.30 desktop application for ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 requires a couple updated files and the addition of the ArcGIS\bin directory to the System PATH variable on each workstation.  The Lucity 7.30 SP2 service pack will handle these changes automatically or they can be made manually for SP1 clients.  To upgrade now, contact Lucity support for the updated files and instructions.

Upgrading to ArcGIS Server 10.1

The ArcGIS Server upgrade affects the Lucity Web inventory modules and the Lucity Web GIS map applications for Lucity version 7.30.  With the 10.1 release, Esri changed how Server Object Extensions are deployed.  Lucity uses Server Object Extensions for querying metadata about layers as well as pushing attribute only updates from Lucity to the geodatabase.  There are 3 steps necessary to upgrade to ArcGIS 10.1 for Lucity Web 7.30.  Do these steps after upgrading to ArcGIS Server 10.1.

  1. Uninstall the Lucity GIS Server Object Extensions from the ArcServer instance (these will no longer work now that you have upgraded to ArcGIS Server 10.1.)
  2. Download the updated SOE from the Lucity patches site.  The zip file includes the new ArcGIS Server 10.1 SOE as well as instructions for how to install it.
  3. Edit the capabilities of each map service used by Lucity to add the Lucity Metadata or the Lucity edit capability as needed.
  4. Review URLs for map services in the Lucity Administration System Settings and GIS Map Services dialogs to ensure that the url is correct and has the correct case.  (ArcGIS 10.1 is now case sensitive).
