Version 1.2 of Lucity Mobile for Android tablet was released to Google Play yesterday. This release is our largest feature release yet! Without further ado, let’s dive into the features:
Disconnected Work Orders
Unfortunately there are times when you just know your device is not going to have a good connection, and without internet access your device can quickly become a paper weight. This feature is for those times. When you know your connectivity is going to be spotty you can tap this button on the dashboard:
This will begin the go offline process; in which it’ll download all the data you’ll need to use the tablet while having spotty or no connection. The more data you designate, the longer this process will take.
Once this completes you’ll be shown your offline dashboard.
This will be a narrowed set of data preselected for offline use. Once you see this screen the application will function as normal with some functionality removed. You can open your data through the dashboard data drills and view, edit, and add Work Orders and child data.
Once you’ve returned to a location with reliable internet access you can then tap “Go Online” which will push your changes to the live data set and then return to your live dashboard.
Create Work Order or Request Buttons
We’ve also added the ability for you to create a Work Order or Request from selected record(s).
In that last screenshot you may have already noticed our next feature: Documents. This can be accessed from either the view toolbar or via a quick button to the right of a record, as seen above, or it can be accessed on the form.
From this screen you can choose to take a picture, capture video, select an existing picture from the gallery, or add an hyperlink, and then attach it to the current record. The storage of these files will mirror that of the web application. Existing documents will be accessible as well.
In addition to the documents button, we have also placed the camera icon on the form. If you wish to quickly snap a picture and attach it to a record, this’ll do it.
This will allow you to quickly add markup to maps. Information can be added to the markup via customized fields such as a description or notes.
The redlining features created in the field will be visible to anyone viewing the data, making it possible to quickly communicate with other people either in the field or at the office.
GIS Alternate Inspections
If an asset has more than one type of inspection associated with it you now have the choice of what type of inspection to create. A popup will show the inspections available and simply choosing a type will start creating that inspection.
Secured Map Services
Secured services are now supported in maps. When a service is secured, only users with valid credentials will be able to interact with that data. An authorized user can log in to the service by entering a username and password, or automatic login can be configured for a user through REST.
Parts Warehouse Prompting
Work Order materials or fluids requiring a location for parts automatically prompt the user when the record is saved. The prompt will provide a list of available locations and the parts available in each location. All of the standard Lucity business rules for warehousing apply to this application. If the system is configured to not show prompts for parts, or to automatically select a location for parts, no prompt will be displayed and the system will automatically handle the parts disbursal.
This release is backwards compatible with all previous supported Lucity releases, but these new functions will only be available for clients running Lucity 7.6 or greater, and 7.6 SP1 or greater for Disconnected Work Orders. To check for a new version of Lucity Mobile, open Google Play and select My Apps. Items that have a new version available will say “Update available.” To enable updates automatically, open the Lucity Mobile details page on Google Play on the device and check the box that says “Allow automatic updating.” To check what version of Lucity Mobile is currently installed on the device, open the Lucity Mobile application, click the menu button, and select “About”.
If you’d like to try out Lucity Mobile at no cost, feel free to download it from Google Play and give it a shot! You can connect to our trial environment by tapping “Request Credentials” on the welcome screen. After receiving your credentials via e-mail, simply tap “Try it Out” and follow the instructions.
